He saved you in such a way that you will never be unsaved

By Aaron Budjen

He saved you in such a way that you will never be unsaved. This is the gospel:  He died for your sins so that He could restore to you the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of Life that had been lost in Adam. And through that restoration, through you receiving the free gift of the Holy Spirit, you are resurrected, you are made alive by the indwelling presence of His life, the life of God. And through that restoration and subsequent resurrection, you are saved from the condition of being spiritually dead. And because there is no sin left unforgiven, there is no sin that will ever cause the Holy Spirit to ever depart from within you ever again. And so by definition, the Holy Spirit indwelling within you permanently is the restoration of the life that had been lost in Adam permanently, so you have been resurrected permanently, which means that you have been saved forever; that you can never lose your salvation, because that is the very definition of salvation. The Gospel + nothing = truth

Please. Just give me the gospel and nothing else. Please don’t give me theatrics, and a light show and a sermon spoken with the smooth intonations of a perfectly polished Persuasive Speech.

Just the gospel. Only Jesus Christ and Him crucified. And RISEN.

Yes, we must not forget the resurrection without which we are still in our sins, according to the Apostle Paul.

The gospel is this: Jesus died, Jesus was buried, Jesus rose again.

THAT is the truth. THAT is what we are asked to believe in. THAT is what we are asked to put our faith in. THAT is the message that we are to “hear with faith” and be saved. Saved from hell. Yes, hell. Because you were given a choice.

Eternal life? Or eternal death? Your choice.

So, if you’re not into church with all of its exhibitionism, well then, not to worry. God didn’t ask you to put your faith in church. He’s asked you to trust in the gospel. The gospel plus nothing.

The gospel is a solution to a problem. The problem is spelled out in Genesis chapter 3 where we learn that Adam and Eve died spiritually. They were given a choice. And when they ate the fruit from the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil, they were deciding to reject God and His indwelling Spirit and to instead believe the words of Satan. God responded with mercy and, right then and there, He promised to send a man who would “crush the head of Satan.”

The Promised Messiah came. He was called Jesus. He was God in the flesh. He came to die to forgive all sin, and then He was buried for three days and three nights, and then he ROSE from the dead to offer His Holy Spirit. . . . THAT is the good news – the gospel!

It is good news because humanity needs the Holy Spirit. The Spirit gives life, and we need to be made spiritually alive. We are all born “in Adam.” Dead in our sins. But Jesus came to save us, to offer good news, glad tidings, “the gospel,” through His death, burial and resurrection.

The gospel is good news. And is it not good of God (more good news!) that the only thing He requires of is to believe in the gospel?

. . . Cause the religious stuff is getting really irritating, don’t you think!?

I have many other blog posts on the topic of “the gospel.” If you are interested, there is:

Do christians have power through their faith?

Christian leaders who teach the Old Covenant have a unique ability to make you feel like you are not doing enough. That you are not doing enough to change yourself or to change the world. I mean, heck, are you really loving your neighbor as much as you love yourself!?

When you hear messages such as that, just remember that Jesus taught the Old Covenant. But after His resurrection, the New Covenant went into effect. And as Jeremiah prophesied, the Old Covenant is NOT like the New.

Another burden put on believers by Old Covenant preachers, is that we do not have strong enough faith. As far as I’m concerned, I have NO power in and of myself. And my faith certainly has no power besides the fact that my faith in the gospel has given me the righteousness of God. (Romans 1)

When I believed in the gospel, I was given the power of God. The power of knowing the truth. Not because I “believe” the truth, but because I KNOW the truth. I know the eternal One who dwells inside of my mortal body.

The power that is in me is YOU, Jesus Christ. It is CHRIST living within me.

“For I am not ashamed of the gospel because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes… For in the gospel the righteousness of God is revealed — a righteousness that is by faith… the righteous will live by faith.” (Romans 1-16-17)

There are so many voices out there in the Christian world speaking lies, speaking deception. That is why is it always important to return to the simplicity of the gospel: that Jesus died for our sins, was buried, and then rose again on the third day.

Let’s continue to put our trust in Him, in the Living God, and in His power that was revealed through the simple truth of the gospel.
