Do you put God first?

If we’re honest, none of us puts God first.  I personally think all of us are so self-absorbed that we mainly think about ourselves.  If you don’t agree with me, just please think about it for a day.  Be brutally honest with yourself and see who you love with all of your heart, all of your mind and all of your strength?  God or yourself?

As born-again believers, we hate this about ourselves.  We want to love God.  We know we should love God.  We want to make God #1 in our lives.  But we fail.

I love this quote by my pastor (who is mainly my pastor through his radio ministry; I do attend his church, but only once a month.)  Anyway, here’s the quote:

“Jesus does not want you to reserve time for Him; that’s not what He wants. What He wants is for you to take Him with you into your time.”

God’s Remnant (a Bible Study by Living God Ministries)

In Romans 9:25-26 Paul quotes from the book of Hosea:

“As He says also in Hosea,
“I WILL CALL THOSE WHO WERE NOT MY PEOPLE, ‘MY PEOPLE,’
AND HER WHO WAS NOT BELOVED, ‘BELOVED.’”

“AND IT SHALL BE THAT IN THE PLACE WHERE IT WAS SAID TO THEM, ‘YOU ARE NOT MY PEOPLE,’ THERE THEY SHALL BE CALLED SONS OF THE LIVING GOD.”

I listened to an excellent Bible Study on these verses recently.  You can listen to it here (it’s 27 minutes long) by scrolling down the list to program #61 titled “The Remnant.”  The teacher, Aaron Budjen of Living God Ministries, is devoted to setting people free from legalism.  He can help you to understand and know your God by breaking down the barriers of lies that hold us hostage to guilt and condemnation.

When I first began attending Aaron’s Bible Studies (held in the Community Room of my local library), I could not get over the amazingly good news of the New Covenant in Christ. I remember sitting on my couch talking to three of my friends and exclaiming loudly, “God’s grace is so good it is RIDICULOUS!”

That was nine years ago, and I am still learning from Aaron.  In fact, there is so much to learn from this brother in Christ that, instead of diminishing, as I grown closer to my Lord God, the rate at which I am learning from Aaron is increasing. Though I have been saved for 25 years and have a lot of Bible knowledge under my belt, verses that I thought I knew very well are becoming real to me for truly the first time. With each passing year, as the Lord continues to teach me about Himself, Aaron’s messages take on new depths of understanding.

And it’s so wonderful and exciting to be on this adventurous journey with my God!

Go check out Aaron’s online radio archive — all free of charge — and see if God uses these audio messages to allow you to grow closer to Him.
